More Than a Trip: The True Youth Exchange Experience

Imagine meeting young people from all over Europe, exploring a new culture, and developing valuable skills, all in one to two weeks. This is the essence of a "Youth Exchange" funded by Erasmus+. At NCI, we believe this experience is much more than just a trip; it's a human adventure and a powerful engine for learning.

The Adventure Begins: Learning by Doing

The heart of a youth exchange is non-formal education. Forget traditional classrooms. Here, you learn by doing, playing, and debating. Centered around a common theme – whether it's the environment, art, citizenship, or social entrepreneurship – the days are structured with:

  • Interactive workshops to explore a topic creatively.
  • Role-playing and simulations to put yourself in someone else's shoes and understand complex situations.
  • Debates to learn how to argue, listen, and build collective thought.

This fun and participatory approach allows everyone to express themselves, gain confidence, and take ownership of the topics discussed.

Beyond Workshops: Cultural Immersion

An exchange doesn't end when the activities are over. Informal moments are just as important. The intercultural evenings, where each national group presents its country through its food, music, or traditions, are unforgettable moments of sharing. It's an opportunity to break stereotypes, discover unexpected commonalities, and forge friendships that transcend borders.

"I thought I was going to discover a country, but I came back having discovered a new part of myself. Those ten days changed my perspective and gave me friends for life."

Skills for Life

Participating in a youth exchange is an investment in yourself. Beyond the memories, you'll return with a valuable toolkit of skills:

  • Improved English (or another language): Practiced daily in an international context.
  • Intercultural skills: Adaptability, open-mindedness, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Soft skills: Teamwork, communication, initiative, and problem-solving.

All these skills are officially recognized by the Youthpass certificate, a European tool that you can highlight on your CV and in future experiences.
