The European Solidarity Corps (ESC): A Year to Change the World

Do you dream of going abroad, discovering a new culture, making yourself useful, and having a meaningful experience? What if we told you all of this is possible, and fully funded? That's the promise of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), a fantastic initiative from the European Union for young people aged 18 to 30.

What is the European Solidarity Corps?

The ESC is a program that allows thousands of young people to get involved in volunteering projects across Europe and beyond. For a period ranging from 2 weeks to 12 months, you can join a non-profit organization and contribute to a cause you care about. The fields of action are incredibly diverse:

  • Environmental protection and the fight against climate change.
  • Social inclusion and assistance to vulnerable populations (refugees, people with disabilities, etc.).
  • Non-formal education with children or adults.
  • Culture, art, and heritage protection.
  • And many more!

An Experience Accessible to All

One of the greatest strengths of the European Solidarity Corps is its accessibility. The program is designed so that finances are not a barrier to engagement. For volunteering projects, the ESC covers:

  • Transportation: Your round-trip plane or train tickets are reimbursed.
  • Accommodation and food: You are housed and fed for the entire duration of your mission.
  • Insurance: You benefit from comprehensive health coverage.
  • Pocket money: You receive a small monthly allowance for your personal expenses.

In short, you can focus on what's essential: your mission and discovering your host country.

More Than a Mission: A Springboard for the Future

Participating in the ESC is, of course, an unforgettable human experience. It's an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone, gain independence, and build self-confidence. But it's also a real asset for your professional future. You will develop key skills (teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving, foreign languages) that are highly sought after by employers.

"My ESC year in Estonia was the most formative of my life. I learned a new language, worked on an exciting environmental project, and met people from all over the world. I returned with a new perspective on the world and on myself."
